encourages the development of singer-songwriters and honors the Shelby native who was a member of the Nashville Songwriter Hall of Fame, the Grand Ole Opry, and the Country Music Hall of Fame.
The Don Gibson American Music Foundation and the City of Shelby are proud to present the Don Gibson Singer Songwriter Symposium
on the 1st Weekend in April.
Three Finalists will be chosen:
First Place – $1,000
Second Place – $400
Third Place – $200

The Contestants will be judged on:
1. Composition – Depth, Insight, Cleverness, Creativity – 45%
2. Vocal Quality – Pitch, Tone, Projection – 20%
3. Showmanship – Personality, Charisma, Connection with Audience – 15%
4. Overall Creativity – difficulty – 15%
5. Audience Response – 5%
